Altus Commercial Receivables is seeking a Controller as we continue to grow our team! The Controller will oversee all aspects of the company’s accounting and financial reporting functions. This individual will be hands-on, ensuring accuracy in the day-to-day while also bringing strategic insight to support acquisitions and private equity reporting. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can work independently, and brings strong leadership and communication skills to the role.
Job Responsibilities:
Altus Commercial Receivables is seeking a Controller as we continue to grow our team! The Controller will oversee all aspects of the company’s accounting and financial reporting functions. This individual will be hands-on, ensuring accuracy in the day-to-day while also bringing strategic insight to support acquisitions and private equity reporting. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can work independently, and brings strong leadership and communication skills to the role.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Manage all aspects of the general ledger, reconciliations, and internal controls
- Lead accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
- Partner with CFO and executive team on M&A due diligence, integration, and related accounting
- Support private equity reporting, including preparation of board and investor packages
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance and efficiency
- Drive improvements in processes, controls, and systems as we scale
- Be hands-on where needed — this role requires a roll-up-your-sleeves mentality
- Hands-on operator + strategic thinker
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team, fostering professional development
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support business initiatives, budgeting, and forecasting
- Serve as key liaison for annual financial audits and tax compliance
- Lead the accounting function day-to-day — from close processes to reconciliations to compliance
- CPA preferred, but not required
- Big 5 (or Big 4/Big 5 equivalent) public accounting experience preferred, but not required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s a plus)
- 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a management role
- Private equity-backed company experience a plus
- Hands-on experience with M&A transactions, including due diligence and integration a plus.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and GAAP expertise.
- Excellent management, organizational, and communication skills.
